    I'm sorry by saying but this is not gonna work out. Firstly, there's no lining in the green bin, can you imagine how smelly it's gonna be if perishable food scraps are left in the house for one whole week. Secondly, this policy really just assumes everybody is so free and diligent to spend so much time categorising their household rubbish and washing the food scrap bins regularly. Thirdly, the original big red bin was already too small for our 7-room flat, now we are given an even smaller red bin for the general waste and we are to ensure that the bin is not overfilled. Fourthly, washing the food scrap bins requires a lot of water and producing these plastic/polyester bins and burning them down in the end will harm the environment even more. I think policies should include more common sense and practicability. Anyway, thank you guys for putting in efforts in improving the environment but hopefully we can make things easier.

    So no cabbage tree leaves. Again, what do we do with them now? Extra cost I presume? No flax, extra cost again. Not good enough.

    If you'd rather not have to go through the process of cleaning a large green bin after each empty due to yucky food scraps, can you put the food scraps in a compostable bag in the red bin? Cleaning out a large bin regularly to avoid flies and smells etc. isn't an easy task.

    Why aren't you using a compostable bin liner in the bench top food scraps bin??? Like old mate said other cities do it all around the world. Why is duebdin always smarter than every other city? These translucent compostible bags break down in 10-45 days, leave no micropladstics and make for Hella cleaner process in the kitchen.

    • @dunedincitycouncil
      @dunedincitycouncil 25 дней назад

      Thanks for watching the video. Plastic, compostable or paper bin liners contain chemicals that would contaminate the compost we’ll make by recycling your food scraps and garden waste. Please do not use them. Even if a bin liner says it is compostable, it is not suitable for the composting process we will use. Bin liners can contain chemicals, additives, inks, and dyes which may negatively impact our environment once they enter the soil. Hope that helps.

    • @RoodtJan
      @RoodtJan 11 дней назад

      @@dunedincitycouncil I find it fascinating that you opted for a process that is not up to dealing with compostable liners. I see these break down in my compost bin in about two months. The green bins will be smelly and a health hazard and will require water and soap to clean after every empty. Not good enough. The scraps bin for indoors will be a similar smelly issue. Please upgrade to world class processes that are hygienic.

    Would it be too much of an ask to have the maori prayer translated into english? for those who weren't taught Maori at school except to count to ten. As Paul the Apostle wrote in 1 Corinthians 14:10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and none of them is without significance. 11 Therefore, if I do not know the meaning of the language, I shall be a foreigner to him who speaks, and he who speaks will be a foreigner to me... 16 Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who occupies the place of the uninformed say “Amen” at your giving of thanks, since he does not understand what you say? 17 For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not edified.

    The Māori god that people pray to that they say "is the one who gives breath" is Hine-nui-te-pō, also known as Hinepōti. She is the goddess of the night, darkness, and death, but she is also the source of life and renewal. It is said that she is the one who breathes life into the newly formed embryos in the womb, and she is also the one who guides the spirits of the dead to their resting place in the underworld. (Source: 'Bard' to question - what is the name of the maori god that people pray to that they say 'is the one who gives breath'?) This Maori Animism idolatry is contrary to what is written in the Bible: Genesis 2:7 And Yehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. Exodus 20:2 “I am Yehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 “You shall have no other gods before Me. etc.

    This Day in History: November 29 On this day in 1947, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution (not implemented) calling for the partition of Palestine into two separate states-an Arab and a Jewish one-that would retain an economic union. This was rejected by the Palestinian leadership and the Arab League. They argued that the plan was unfair to the Arabs, as they constituted over two-thirds of the population of Palestine and owned most of the land. They also objected to the proposed division of Jerusalem, which was to be placed under international administration. The Jewish leadership, on the other hand, accepted the plan, albeit with reservations. They viewed partition as a compromise solution that would allow them to establish a Jewish state in Palestine.

    2:13 What international law is Councillor Steve Walker talking about? What international law has Israel broken? I understand that if at war the military base can be a target so Hamas wickedly put their military bases were civilians are including their own hospitals. So what is Israel suppose to do. They have acted incredibly in regard to their current situation. I would also ask Councillor Steve Walker what would you do as Prime Minister, since you hold an office in DCC, what would you do if Hamas did what they did on October 7th 2023 to your own citizens?
